The jets of light circled in upon the dented pod, as the Algos closed in on the coordinates. His fingers drummed on the navigation console as he watched Path on the display. The droid gracefully slid himself out of the airlock propelling himself towards wreckage.
“Residual heat signatures detected, origins unknown.” He began, as he brushed debris aside, the few metal plates still recognisable as parts of the wreck's outer hull still glowed from impact damage, “Possibly work of beam technology, although not from the Amarr.”
No, I wouldn't have come out this far into wormhole space for a few slavers.
“Approaching the pod, attaching tag.” The console bleeped in confirmation.
“Lets wheel it in then.” he muttered, as he activated the tractor beam.
“Returning to ship now.” Path chirped, whilst he hung onto the side of the pod, as it slowly began it's journey towards the ship.
Path carefully began cutting away at the pod's casing, the sparks occasionally flaring up at the pilot's inquisitive face as he stood over the proceeding.
“This could take a while, 10 minutes 52- 51 seconds, you may want to take a seat and wait.” Path said, the headless helmet looking up at the man above him.
“No no, I want to see what the outcome is. Don't want to miss it.” Path made no reply but simply turned back to the job.
The minutes went by, but eventually the pod cracked with a hiss. Sliding the panel away revealed the body of Jonas, frozen within the currently solid goo.
“Alive, in stasis.” Came Path's analysis.
“I guess it's death for-.” The pilot began, just before noticing Path's arm travelling through his chest, blood burst from his mouth as he collapsed onto the deck.
“Gods damn it,” his vision blurred, “this is why I hate soft cloning.” Jonas managed to curse amid the vomits of blood. In his final moments he looked up at his face, the goo melting off as Path began the defrosting.
Damn it.
